History

NBC started as a vision by gathering Newbury residents together to help make the Town of Newbury even more beautiful and to promote pride in our community.  Founding members were Jacqueline Donovan, Lois Flanders, Bonnie Guterl, Charlene Harris, Anne Holmes, Anne McNamara, Diana Morris, Joy Nowell, Betsy Soper, Liz Tentarelli and Sally Wollensak.

NBC was officially formed on January 7, 2004, and later “adopted” by the Town of Newbury.  The Town provides an annual allotment to assist with NBC projects.  This along with donations and support from members, residents and local businesses has allowed NBC to continue the following traditions:  planting and maintaining flowers throughout the town, spring plant sale, holiday greening of the town, wreath sale and annual scholarships. Lilac bushes donated by the State of New Hampshire were planted in public locations.

NBC has and will continue to collaborate with the Center Meeting House and the Newbury Public Library on various activities.  Members provide a ham and bean supper for Newbury residents at the annual Town Meeting in March.

Each year, NBC expands their endeavors to beautify and promote pride in Newbury.
